Make your own tee pee!

They love the teepee!
My girls love to sit inside, look at books, cuddle up with the dogs or telling storys to each other.
In the beginning of my idea to sew a teepee myself I was a bit overhelmed and tought it was really difficult to sew it myself. It is not! It's really easy and you don't need good sewing skill's.

Materialliste:

5 Stangen (200cm gross)

Material list:

5 Poles (200 cm high)
Fabric in the size of 185 x 370 cm
5 Curtain rings (the poles have to fit inside)

My teepee has 5 poles, which all are 200 cm high. I have chosen wood rods, only because I like them estetically the most. You can easy choose some bamboo or plastic. It's up to you and what you like. A very beautifully idea which I will do soon is to collect wooden rods in the forest and make with them a teepee for our balcony.

As fabric I bought a bedspread from ikea (Indira). Because one alone was to little for the size of my tent I wanted to do I sewed to together.
The best for your budget it will be always to buy some bedding or curtains, from them you have usually the most fabric for less money.
It is surley also very nice to sew together lots of little fabric pieces to make a very colorfull teepee.

The curtain rings are to fix the poles at the right places, but you can instead use a ribbon to tie or sew on a guide with matching fabric.

- I made a half circle with a fabric marker and the diameter of 370 cm and cutted them.

- Hem all the edges.

- Make five parts out of this half circel and sew on the rings about 50 cm away from the lower edge.

- Now we sew the bow to fix the poles, take a piece of fabric in the size of 7 x 70 cm, put it right side on right side and sew it together on the long side, turn around, fold the ends inside and sew one time all around. Sew to the middle of your half circle.

- Measure the circumference of all the poles together and transfer the same size in the middle of your half circle. After this hole you let sew 90 cm way down.

- Thread in the poles, tie the bow and relax inside your tent with a blanket, cushions and your favourite book.

Dazu habe Ich ganz viele Inspirationen gefunden.

I found also a lot of inspirations at the internet.
The ruffle teepee from "sewing in no mans land" is very beautiful, at babble you find a collection of tents and teepee's and the teepee in the garden of "sf girl by bay" you can also buy if you don't feel to sew your own one.
